On July 23rd, 1967, the car was entered in the Mugello 1000km race driven by Gerhard Mitter and Udo Schutz where it finished 1st overall. The Porsche factory then sold the car to Helmut Klocke’s Ben Hur Racing Team, with a 2-liter 6-cylinder magnesium case with a fuel injected twin plug cylinder head. Its race successes continued as a private entry. Entered in the Osterreichring 1000kms at Zeltweg by Ben Hur Racing and driven by Helmut Klocke and Hans Bohlmeir, plus races at Zolder, Belgium, Zandvoordt, Holland, Salzburg, Austria, Hockenheim and the Nurburgring in Germany. Helmut Klocke sells the car to Dieter Munch a German Porsche racer who retains the car for many years before selling it to Bernd Becker who is also a long term owner.
