1941 Moto Guzzi GTS 500

This matching frame and engine bike, restored by Italian specialist Silvano Milani. It was imported to California and on display with eight other Moto Guzzis at The Quail Motorsports Gathering showing the evolution of the Moto Guzzi 500 where an award was won.
Moto Guzzi Factory Certificate of Origin shows the GTS was delivered new on 27 March 1941 to the “Milizia Della Strada Di Roma.” It was a special build for the police in Rome. It is also the last of the GTS series.
Only 2652 GTS were built. This is the last of the line. The GTS was immensely popular with the police and the owner who wanted the most reliable of the Guzzi 500s with the best of the old and new technology of the day. This later GTS was the first of the bikes with the sprung frame, floor shift gearbox and hand twist throttle. The weight was light at 323 pounds allowing the bike to move along at up to 65 mph. The S and GTS series were made from 1934 – 1941 making it eligible for many pre-war motorcycle events.
