VIN number 875231 is the 231st series one E-Type built. This is one of the very early cars that were still hand built with outside bonnet latches, welded hood louvers and a flat floor. This unique build quality made this the most collectible of the E-Types. It was also the last of the Jaguars designed by Sir William Lyons. Its’ design excellence was honored by being the second car on display in the museum of modern art in New York.
A complete bare-shell professional restoration by noted E-Type expert, Richard Darnell. The restoration consisted of body, paint, chrome, trim, upholstery, electrical, instruments, full mechanical rebuild, including engine, transmission, suspension, brakes, etc. Excellent receipts and photo documentation of restoration history. This car was restored so well, it received a JCNA Award of 100 points in the Grand Champions Class in May 2001.
