| History: |
After the
success of the T260, Eric Broadley and his design team, which
included a very young Patrick Head and John Barnhard, created
their ultimate weapon for the 1972 season, the T310.
It was longer, lower, wider and aerodynamically
superior with a low flat nose and redesigned wings developed
using a wind tunnel. It
was powered by a Big Block Chevrolet V8 mated to a Hewland
gearbox. This
menacing car was driven by reigning F5000 champion David
Hobbs. It was
entered by Lola importer Carl Haas and sponsored by Steed and
Goodyear.
Just two
cars were constructed, but only HU-1 was ever raced in period.
Chassis HU-2 was used without drive train as a show
car. This car,
HU-1, was campaigned in the 1972 season and comes with an
extensive file including period photos, racing history, a list
of owners and a documented restoration.
The Lola
T310 was the last original Can-Am series car built by Lola.
Since restoration it has been a multiple participant at
the Goodwood Festival, Monterey Historics, Elkhart Lake Can-Am
Reunion and other events.
Most recently, it ran in the 2007 Monterey Historics,
driven by John Morton. For
2008 it is entered in
Monterey
with Bobby Rahal as the driver. |
