History: About 19 Elva Mark 8 2.0 Liter Sports Racing Cars were built by Elva Cars in Rye, Sussex, England.  Elva was in the midst of being sold to McLaren Cars and went on to build the customer McLaren Can Am cars.  The Elva Mark 8 was raced and developed by Chris Amon and Bruce McLaren and was the winning car in its class.  The Elva build sheet shows this car delivered on July 23, 1965 to Peter Goetz in the color green with BMW 2.0 liter engine and Hewland HD5, 5-speed gearbox, which is how it is today. It has a USA USRRC and SCCA race history to include the Road America 500.  The ownership history is known from new.  With most of the owners on the west coast, one owner had the car 20 years and another for 10 years.
Condition: This car has been professionally prepared with a proper 2.0 liter BMW engine producing over 200 BHP with improved Lester Owen rocker arms.  It also has an original Hewland HD5 gearbox with improved 5 speed FT200 internals.  Koni aluminum double adjustable shocks, fire system, fuel cell, and six point belts.  Over the years it has been worked on by Mike Giddings, Phil Denny, Bill Schlossnagel, Dave Vegher in California, and Merrill Restorations in Texas. The gearbox has been rebuilt by Taylor Race Engineering in Texas.  This car has won the 1961-1965 2.0 Liter Sports Racing Car Class, the 40th Elva Anniversary Race at Elkhart Lake in 1995 and the 50th Elva Reunion in 2005.
