History:

This Bobsy was built by H modified National Champion Jerry Mong in Medina, Ohio for Chuck Dietrich, SCCA champion and Elva racer, to drive.  Only four wide chassis SR-3 were built.  Number four was designed to run a Corvair engine with assistance from John Marcoski who worked for GM on the Reynolds aluminum/GM 2 liter Corvair project.  These four wide-chassis SR3's are quite unique.  They have a wide engine bay to accommodate a large engine.  The chassis are built out of aluminum making the cars extremely light.  General Motors and Reynolds Aluminum sponsored three cars, a Lotus 23 Corvair for George Follmer, a Genie Corvair for Jerry Titus and Scooter Patrick, and this Bobsy SR3 Corvair, which is the only remaining of the three cars.

Long time Yenko Stinger driver Jim Schardt of Dayton, Ohio found this car complete with Corvair engine in a barn in 1988.  It also had the only SCCA approved aluminum 3 inch diameter roll bar.  A unique feature on the engine is the Porsche fan assembly developed by Jerry Titus.  The engine was first built by two-time Indy 500 winning crew chief George Sali.

Professionally prepared by Brad Pierce Motorsports to a top level with numerous podium finishes in historic racing.  With a good power to weight ration this is a very competitive sports racing car.
