History: |
Irv Dickson, an employee at Aerojet and owner of Dickson Machine
in Folsom, California
originally built this car in 1959 with the rolling chassis,
drive train of a Triumph TR2 and a fiberglass Kellison J2
roadster body. Dickson drove the car on the street until he met
Bart Martin, an up and coming Corvette racer from the
San Francisco
region of the SCCA. In late 1962 Dickson and Martin converted
the Kellison into serious racing machine. Power was from a fuel
injected Chevrolet 327 V8 which was mated to a Borg Warner 4
speed transmission and a specially designed rear axle. Martin
and Dickson had great success competing with the Kellison
Corvette special in the SCCA C Modified class at racetracks such
as Candlestick Park,
Cotati, Stockton, Salt Lake City, and others through the 1963
race season. In 1964 Martin moved to a Cooper Monaco sports
racer and the Kellison Corvette was disassembled and stored by
Dickson until it was uncovered and restored in 2005 for the
Monterey Historics where American racing specials were the
featured cars. The ownership is short and complete as the
Kellison Corvette was in the possession of Irv Dickson for over
50 years.

Condition: |
This great car is restored in 2005 by Irv Dickson, the original
constructor. It retains the original frame, brakes, seats, rear
suspension and body pieces. The fuel injected 327 Chevrolet was
built by Bud Walmers Automotive machine in
Orangevale,
California to an estimated 400 BHP.
Since the completion of the restoration the Kellison Corvette
has seen recent action on vintage race circuits such as Reno, Thunderhill and Laguna Seca.

Comments: |
This is a great opportunity to purchase a unique American road
racing special. It is truly one of a kind with real period west
coat road racing history. With a short 88 inch wheelbase, 400hp
Chevrolet V8 and low roll center rear axle this Kellison
Corvette is a real thrill to drive! |
