History: |
As verified by the Porsche factory Kardex
and the Reutter build sheet, chassis #13052 was ordered in
January of 1960 by Ludwig Blendl through the Mahag Porsche
dealership in Munich, Germany specifically for racing with
most of the Carrera GT options.
Blendl was an accomplished Porsche race car driver
having previously raced a Carrera GT Speedster and an Abarth
Carrera and had a race repair shop.
He raced this car at the Nurburing, AVUS, Spa,
Norisring and numerous other venues.
In 1964, an American officer named Gary
Walker purchased the car while he was stationed in Germany. In
1965, he sent it to the Porsche factory for major service
work. Upon his return to the States, Walker had the car
serviced by Jacques LeFriant at Scott's Porsche in San Diego,
California. In 1991, the car was purchased from Walker by
Tokio Yoshida, then completely restored to original
specifications by 356 specialist Bill Perrone. After
restoration the car was sent to Japan where it remained until
2008. When it returned to the U.S. in 2008 it had been driven
only 995 kilometers and still looked as restored. Mid-2009 it
was professionally and thoroughly checked and detailed by Bill
Perrone and Jim Ansite with freshened engine by Jacques
LeFriant.
This car is the perfect 356B Carrera racecar to take Historic
car racing today and is eligible for the Tour Auto, LeMans
classic and any USA racing group.
It is also good enough to enter in a Concour. |
